The course covers a wide range of speaking and listening, reading and writing activities. A variety of literature is studied, ranging from Shakespeare to poetry and prose written before and during this century. The course is divided into 40% coursework of which 20% is speaking and listening and 20% is reading and writing and 60% final examination. A pre-release booklet , which is to be used in the final examination contains articles in two sections: media texts and non-fiction texts and poetry from other cultures and traditions.

The course content aims to develop listening and speaking skills. Topics studied include dealing with problems, travel and accommodation. ABC Practical Languages Level 2 accreditation.
