he BTEC National Certificate in Engineering is a two year part time course designed to fulfil the needs of the engineering sector of industry. The BTEC national diploma is a practical work related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start or progress a career. It is equivilant to three A levels which means when- Higher Diploma in Engineering (u16)

The course will cover the following units for accreditation: Carry out routine servicing of mechanical equipment, developing yourself and working with other people on engineering activites, joining using welding techniques, making components using hand tools and fitting techniques, wiring electric circuits, working safely in an engineering environment. The course covers a range of skills relating to engineering and includes mechanical, electrical and fabrication options. Key skills in application of number, communication and information technology are also included.
