Student Travel Survey

www.surveymonkey.com/s/GYC-Students

Every student can play their part in helping the college win funding to improve its buildings and facilities by completing the college travel survey.
Every completed survey will contribute to the college’s success in securing its capital bid for its rebuild. Also, every student who completed the survey and fills in his or her mobile number in the box provided will be entered for a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher.
Fill in the survey today – it’s open for four weeks – and encourage your friends and course mates to do the same.

Damage to fire doors.

On Wednesday 5th June the glass and automatic door releases were deliberately broken on the corridor fire doors on the first floor of B block.
This is a particularly serious and dangerous act. If there had been a fire, smoke and fumes would have built up in the stairwell which would have prevented its use and would probably have resulted in serious injury or loss of life to your fellow students and staff.
Damaging fire equipment is also a criminal offence which can result in a fine or prison. The courts do take damage to fire equipment seriously and the outcomes are usually severe.
Please ensure that if you notice any damage to any safety devices please report such damages to reception.
Thank you.

A BIG THANKYOU

...to all that attended and supported the Level 3 Travel and Tourism Hollywood Event on Friday Evening. It was a huge success and the students raised almost £800 for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. We would also like to thank Phil Bury and Level 3 Media Student Jake who very kindly filmed the event for us, to the band “The Anyones” who supplied us with an excellent evening of music. All in all a huge success with a very proud tutor.

Kind regards, Judy Shannon

Smokefree Homes and Cars Campaign

Secondhand smoke puts people at increased risk of lung disease, meningitis and cot death. It results in over 300,000 GP visits, 9,500 hospital visits in the UK each year. Over 80% of cigarette smoke is invisible, and opening windows and doors does not remove its effects.
Great Yarmouth and Waveney Children's Centres are supporting the campaign and would like to encourage as many smokers to at the least stop smoking in their cars and homes as possible. If you would like to pick up an information Pack please visit:
  • Trinity Children’s Centre, Martham
  • Butterfly Children’s Centre, Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth
  • Priory Children’s Centre, Great Yarmouth
  • Seagulls Children’s Centre, Gorleston
  • The Ark Children’s Centre, Lowestoft
For further information about the campaign please visit: www.nhs.uk/smokefree If you would like help to quit smoking please contact the NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Stop Smoking Service on: 0800 652 3477 or text ‘Quit’ to 65000
